Last week got a little whacky with me leaving Patterson on Wed and then deciding to go see Ma and Pa for a quick trip befroe starting my new job on Monday. There just wasn't as much time for healthy stuff as I was originally planning with a four day weekend. I got in overhead press on Wed.
185 x 5, 210 x 3, 235 x 1. I played a spot of volleyball Sunday eve, which I'm counting as a workout because I'm desperate. And I did an hour run Monday morning. The job is going well so far, but I might as well be doing heme oncology, because this is a bit overwhelming. Cheers!

Tonight
All I got in was squats tonight, but I'm planning a run in the morning and didn't want to overdo the lower quadrant. And my right knee is still tweaking a bit.

445 x 3

525 x 1

Chasing a Dream
Did bench on Saturday. It was dumping rain and generally being a lovely day, but I didn't really feel like running in it. I did talk Meg into dragging the sled around our track, so she gets props for slogging it out in the rain and mud. The bench workout was kind of a fun one. The music was loud and I didn't feel rushed so I got to put some good thought into my training. I still haven't managed my 1600 lbs total. Theoretically, I'm at about 1410 with a 370 bench, 520 pull, and 520 squat. If I'm gonna hit a 600 squat and deadlift, its just going to have to be slow and steady. But I think I can drive my bench quicker If I'll focus on it. So anyway, Saturday was 5/3/1 for 280, 315, and 355 for a double. Then I decided to try to press 405 just to see what it feels like. It felt exactly like there was 405 lbs on top of me. I lowered the weight with good control and touched down. That's about as far as it got. I gave it a heck of a push, but failed to fire. I wasn't surprised, but at least I know its obtainable. I had a lot more control over the bar than I was expecting. I'm positive that If I really focus on my bench, I'll break that 400 lbs mark real soon. And that will make me very smiley!

I'm a Blogger!
Did 30 min run this morning. It was pitch black, about 35 degrees, way foggy, and raining. Generally these are my favorite running conditions. This morning was grand except that the weather apparently had every pack of coyotes in west texas going nuts. They were going off in every direction. Or perhaps they were circling me. Doesn't matter. On a clear morning my headlamp will show me eyes about 100 yards out. That's plenty of time to call my dogs, say a prayer, and pull a shank from my bat belt. But in the fog, I can pretty much see what's in front of my feet and everything outside the headlamp beam just drops off to oblivion. I run on lease roads, so there's no passing cars or any other civilization for at least a mile. I'm constantly seeing things outta the corner of my eye in the darkness and getting this American Werewolf in London vibe. And then, inevitably, my dogs both ram into the side of my leg, just outta my peripherals to test out my max heart rate. Good times. Getting the poo scared outta of you while training can only make you stronger. And it makes for a squinchy trip back to the house. Congrats on passing peds! Oh, and I think I fixed the video on the last post. Cheers!
